The word “blessed” is a popular word these days. What does that even mean? the word is used 67 times in the Bible- that’s a lot of Biblical real estate isn’t it? but do we know what it really means to “be blessed?”
There are times when uncertainty and chaos often cast’s their dark shadows on our lives, leaving us feeling lost and adrift in the turbulence of existence. But even in the most turbulent times, there is a path that we can take – a less troubled path – that offers comfort, hope, and the promise of a blessed life.
The journey on this path revolves around faith, love, and the pursuit of righteousness. It is about living a good and upright life, following the light of the wisdom found in the Bible. It involves rediscovering your faith and walking a path of goodness, compassion, and morality.
Let’s embark on a faith journey and understand how faith and Christianity can lead to a blessed life.
The Endless Love of God
I was in prayer one morning and God had placed it on my heart that he loved my blog! and not only did he love my blog, but he wanted to be in my blog too. That really warmed my heart and made me so happy. You see just like a father he loves his children! and wants to be involved in everything we’re doing.
As i start to think about what it means to live “A blessed life” the core and foundation of this remarkable journey of faith and living a blessed life is the love of God—a love that is like no other. This love is a steady and unwavering force and is always there to guide, comfort, and uplift us. It’s a love that knows no boundaries, transcending time and space.
This love isn’t something we need to earn or strive for—it’s freely given to us as a gift from God to all who believe. It’s a love that brings solace in times of trouble, reassurance in moments of doubt, and a profound sense of belonging wherever we are.
In Ephesians 2:4-5, the Bible tells us, “But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions – it is by grace you have been saved.” These verses illuminate the nature of God’s love as boundless grace, a gift freely bestowed upon us, even in our moments of imperfection and weakness.
In the blessed life, this love is not just a concept but a living, breathing presence that fills the hearts and souls of those who embrace it. It provides hope, a sense of purpose, and the knowledge that we are cherished beyond measure.
When I think of the love of God I think of Jesus! because Jesus is the greatest expression of God’s love and is communicated to us in John 3:16 “for God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” Making a way for us to live in paradise with him forever, that is real love folks, not the superficial kind. You see love is an attribute of God, it is the core aspect of his character and is in no sense in conflict with his holiness, righteousness, justice or even his wrath. All of Gods attributes are in perfect harmony and everything he does is right. God is the perfect example of true love and i am convinced that nothing can separate us from his kind, gentle and merciful affection for us. His love for us is deeper than we can comprehend.
Faith in Christ: Reviving Faith
Reviving one’s faith is often a transformative journey. It involves deepening our trust in Jesus Christ, who serves as the bridge between humanity and God.
As Christians, it is through faith in Christ that we experience spiritual rebirth and find purpose in life. Romans 5:1-2 states, “Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand.“
Jesus Christ was more than a man or a great teacher. The Bible says He is the Son of God.
Although Jesus was a man, it is very important to understand that he never once committed a sin during his life on earth. He is the only sinless man to ever live and walk this earth. His enemies studied Him day and night in an effort to discount Him, but they never found any sin, EVER!
Jesus lived a humble life. He didn’t seek fame and received no special honors from people. He was born in a stable and was raised in the small and unassuming village of Nazareth, where he was eventually trained to be a carpenter. So, yes even God worked!
When Jesus began His earthly ministry, he selected an ordinary group of fishermen and others to be His followers. He walked this earth just like the rest of us.
Jesus lived among us so we could see God with our own eyes, touch God with our hands, talk to God with our lips, hear God speak with our ears, and live with God in our world. And God loves us so much that he agreed to come in a fleshly body for us! can you imagine how hard that must of been for him? He did all of this so we could learn how to be like Him, the Son of God, but more importantly it was because of love, because love is the foundation and route cause of all his actions.
We are children of God, and Jesus has shown us how to live, love, laugh and be accepted in the eyes of God, who was His Father and is our Father. But that’s not all Jesus did for us.
Jesus came to earth more than 2,000 years ago to save us from our sins, which separated us from God. He alone has the power and ability to bring us back to God. By dying on the cross, Jesus paid the price for our sins and made a way for us to live with him and God in paradise forever. He was the substitute and he voluntarily died in our place because we’re sinful people.
As God’s children, we believe in His promise of eternal life because He rose from the dead and still lives today. He loves you and wants to be your Savior and friend.
The Righteous Life: Living in Harmony with God
On our path to a blessed life, we find the idea of living righteously—making choices aligned with what’s morally good and fair. This concept is affirmed by Proverbs 21:3, which states: “To do what is right and just is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice.“
Living a righteous life involves daily reflection on God’s teachings, seeking guidance through prayer, and being part of a supportive faith community. It means being kind, forgiving, and loving our neighbors, as Jesus taught us.
In the blessed life, living righteously contributes to a fairer, kinder, and more loving world, aligning our actions with God’s will.
What Happens to People Who Are Blessed?
I always remembered the story of Joseph from the Bible especially Vs, 11-26- “So Joseph settled his father and his brothers and gave them possession in the land of Egypt, in the best land of Rameses as Pharaoh had ordered. “
Explanation:
When we are living the blessed life, we become a blessing to people around us. God’s primary goal in blessing us goes beyond us; it extends to others around us as well.
It has often been said: “God will give to you if he can give through you.” Joseph became conduit by which God showed up and showed out in Egypt.
The reason why a blessed person is such a blessing to others is because people see God through your life. You don’t have to depend on someone else’s testimony; you have your own.
Jacob was a blessed man because he had a testimony that blessed others.
Everyone in life has pain and a story to tell; but in Jacob’s life there was something different; there was a testimony. The narrative of Jacob’s life did not end in chapter 37 when he thought his son had died; God had chapter 46 ready! just right ahead, where he would be reunited with his son, who was actually alive.
Your life is a blessing because when God is in your story; your story is never over and he will use your story to bless someone else.
Likewise, we see from this chapter that Joseph had a testimony that God had not only seen him through, but God was seen through him and his life, which i think is incredible.
Listen: God finishes every story. He’s got more chapters ahead in your life. The first chapters may have communicated pain; but there are more chapters ahead! and you will see the presence and power of God. He’s not done with you yet.
Another great story that i love and wanted to talk about is the story of David and Goliath, you see David was someone who was often “overlooked” by people. They laughed at him and didn’t consider him to be important! because all they ever saw in him was just a young shepherd boy, but God saw a king! and there is a lesson here, don’t let how others see you define who you are, let God define you.
And another point i want to make about God’s character that i’ve observed is that he picks the “David’s and the “Joseph’s” and the “Bathsheba’s”of the world on purpose! because of their pain, so in the end when he does great things through these people, “God will always get the glory” people will be shocked! So i would be very careful who you overlook because you don’t know what God’s plans are for that person.
† What is God’s promise for the blessed life?
God promises a blessed life to those who seek His kingdom and His righteousness. As we rest in His care and provision, our Heavenly Father, who knows what we need, will be faithful to deliver if we leave all in the hands of our Provider. When we keep from being distracted by the cares of this life, and trust that He will give us more than what we could ever need or want, we will truly be blessed.
The blessed life begins here on earth and continues through all eternity when we reach paradise and live in our father’s kingdom. And when we abide in Christ, our robes are washed clean by our merciful Savior, giving us the right to enter heaven. And we will then live under His divine favor… and look forward to the perfection of our blessedness in the light of His presence forever.
