How To Discover Your life Purpose

Discovering your life purpose can be the most rewarding experience. It’s such a blessing and a wonderful feeling to know that you’re doing exactly what you’re passionate about.

For some of us our purpose and passion in life was obvious and clear since we were kids. There are certain people who were born with specific natural talent and worked hard all their lives to perfect those talents and skills.

Alternatively, for some other people it’s not as easy to identify a passion. You might have already asked yourself at some point “what am I doing with my life?” and “what is my life purpose?” well I hope I can help you find those answers. Here are some tips I suggest you try that can help guide you and put you on the right path.

Explore your interests and hobbies

Start off by thinking about your interests and hobbies, “get to know yourself better,” what do you like to do? and what comes naturally to you?. Of course, it will always take a considerate amount of time to develop and perfect any skill but the first step to take would be to understand what your gifts and talents are.

I believe we all have a meaningful purpose and it’s important to not dwell and look at what others are doing whilst trying to find your best inner qualities. As that could easily take you down the wrong path and lead to a life of unhappiness.

Be truthful with yourself about who you are and what your abilities are. This is the fun part “it’s all about you now” this is the time you can spend working on yourself on a deeper level.

I personally love to write and have been doing it since I was six years old and the best thing about it is, it comes naturally to me and I absolutely love it.

I remember as a child writing stories for my homework and sitting at my teachers’ desk, watching her face light up smiling as she marked my work. She would particularly tick the paragraphs she liked the most.

I didn’t think then that I wanted to be a writer, but I loved how my words had such an effect on her and that memory stayed with me my whole life.

Believe it or not this is actually the first time I’m sharing this memory with anyone, I guess because this is the right time to do so. My point is our unique gifts have the power to influence others for the greater good and that’s why it’s so important to stick to what you’re supposed to be doing instead of following everybody else.

But let me also tell you one thing, it’s all good and well knowing what your passions are but if you don’t apply any action and work hard it won’t amount to anything. And let’s not overlook a person’s hard work by saying “it was just plain talent! either!” I have heard a lot of people saying that and I think it’s really unfair to not acknowledge a person’s experiences and efforts by Implying their talent alone made them successful.

Follow your inner guidance

Your intuition, instincts, inner self is a secret tool you can always use to help guide you in your life’s journeys, this can also help you find your life purpose. Think of it like your own inner navigation system that’s installed in you and is accessible at any time, helping and guiding you to where you want to go.

Have you ever had a bad feeling about something? or someone? all perhaps felt those inner hunches, well that is your instincts talking to you and it’s always important to listen to it. Learn how to develop your intuition and make it stronger by frequently using methods like meditation, prayer, affirmations and visualization.

Your most happiest and greatest experiences in life

A good technique you can also use to help with identifying your purpose is to conduct a joy review. I heard about this before and it really helped me put things into perspective whilst pointing me in the right direction.

Use about 30 minutes of your time and make a list of all the times you’ve felt the greatest joy in your life and also think about the times you’ve ever felt most fulfilled and contempt. Then look for a pattern amongst all of the things you’ve done.

This will surely help bring out your skills, character and what you like to do. Joy is a powerful force and it’s a part of our internal guidance system that tells us when we are on track so you can always use it to determine a lot about your life purpose.

Tell your story

Reading connects us to people we’ll never know and can even help you find your purpose and so can writing. We can learn from other people’s stories and experiences whilst also learning from our own. Being inspired by others and learning from what they’ve encountered in life can motivate us to look at our own qualities and strengths.

Writing about our own life can give us clarity and it can help us learn about ourselves and make sense of our own experiences. When we write, it gives us the ability to see how much we have grown, and it can make it easier to point out and emphasize our true colours.

We are able to see things differently, imagine looking at life through a different lens. This is why I suggest starting a journal and write as much as you can as this exercise can even help organize your thoughts.
